February 2017
Week ending Feb 7
Since the beginning of this year I have been trying to walk 2 and a half miles a day, averaged over a full week, Monday to Sunday. So far I have achieved
my target each week. It does mean I go for more walks than I used to and is why you get more pictures. Friday last week was a beach walk, really cold, very windy
and what do you know, there was a windsurfer. Saturday was a different walk through some gardens, public ones I don't just walk through anyone's garden,
and as I came back to the road someone was feeding the gulls.
Normally I take my beach walks along the seafront at Clacton, where I live. It saves driving and also saves time but yesterday, not knowing how hectic today
was going to be, I took more time out and drove along the coast to Walton-on-the Naze. I thought it might be a bit wet walking across the Naze, lovely though it is,
so I contented myself with a walk along the beach. So did one other person although later two people arrived to go fishing.

Bit cold and windy on my walk this Sunday. Fortunately there was at least one other idiot out although as he had a tent, a stove and a hot flask, I not sure how
much of an idiot he was. Further along the coast it was even choppier.
Please note that in this first photo below and the last photo above, despite the terrible weather, a bird still managed to get into my picture. By the way if you park your car and
walk a couple of miles with the wind at your back, the return walk is not as pleasant. I think I've found a use for driverless cars. Here boy. I used the wind
direction for the last two photos working on the theory that although I was only a few feet from the crashing waves, the spray would miss me and go in the other
direction.
Week ending Feb 21
Driving along last Wednesday and a massive rainbow appeared over the sea. I had my camera.
It was half term last week and on Friday I went for a walk my daughter, my two granddaughters and their dog. After sitting down with her two new friends, my youngest grandduaghter on this side, decided to
pretend that she had guided the twigs around the arbour.
We had a bit of fun throwing pebbles into the pond and photographing the ripples.
Like mother, like daughter.
The leaping dog taking a good catch on the run.
I went for a walk at Walton-on-the-Naze on Sunday. We do love our beach huts.
Week ending Feb 28
Storm Doris, she used to be my mother-in-law, popped in this week and attempted to move all the sand at Frinton along the coast to Walton. To be honest, she made a pretty good job of it.
It's Pancake Day. Granddaughter No.4 seems to indicate a Health and Safety requirement for goggles before letting Auntie Jen help her toss her pancake. As you will see later, this may not have been a wise choice.
Granddaughter No.2 (No.3 was at a friend's house) is giving it full concentration but the post-tossed pancake is not back in the pan but on the floor.
Grandson No.1 is confident, successful and a bit of a poser.
Granddaughter No.1 looks concerned, looks very concerned and just manages to keep the pancake in the pan. Facial expressions are almost as exciting to watch.
Daughter No.1 (and only), looks cool, bit wary and may have accidently hit Tim Peake with the height of her throw.
Sadly she missed the descending capsule, sorry pancake, and had to clear it from the floor.
So she had another go and look at her surprise when she caught it. Indeed she was so pleased...................
She had another go and surprised herself again.
Then is was nanny's go and it is far more interesting to watch daughter's expression, cowering behind the safety of the glass doors.
Finally, who else. A high throw, two steps down the wicket and the pancake is safely pouched. Until next year.
