It doesn't get much quirkier than picking your own song.

Back in 2002 I was working in Poland on a global education project. We hoped that we could bring the young people of our world closer together by getting them to tell stories about their lives and we would upload them to our website.

I had been thinking about having a song for the project and then, one morning, it all came to me and fitted together. I had wanted to include a country from each continent in the verses and one from continent in the chorus. I got it. The song was recorded by a teacher, a parent, ex-pupils and young pupils at a Polish music school where one highly talented pupil had arranged the song for me.

It was an amazing feeling the first time I heard the backing track taking shape in the studio. I now intend to re-record the song with an English school because its idea, its theme, is very relevant to some of the material on Owlbut's World of Learning website.

I have to admit that there is still one line in the song I don't like and you may notice a different one when we do it again.

The video that accompanies the song was put together by another Polish school.
